Review - Diamonds Steak House

I was so excited tonight to be going out with a friend to do my first restaurant review. We picked a restaurant that has been around a long time but in October of 2010 started over with new owners.

I have lived in this area for 13 years and went to this restaurant once during this time.

Diamonds Steak House
209 E. Grand River
Howell, MI

The atmosphere has not changed at all and it's nice. We had a nice big booth, it was easy to talk and comfortable.

We started with drinks and I also had water. Our waitress was nice. She told us she was the owners daughter and her dad was the chef in the kitchen. I do like a family business. I ordered a stacked prime rib sandwich with 1 side item which I ordered a salad$9.50. My friend ordered the walleyed dinner with 2 sides, soup and mushrooms $12.

They didn't have any specials. I really like it when a restaurant has specials. Specials should be the best items to order that night.

My friend did get her soup before her dinner but I had to flag our waitress down after getting my dinner and ask for my salad. I also had to flag her down for more water. My friends walleyed really looked and she said tasted like perch. My sandwich was cold when I ate it but it did have good flavor.

When our waitress give us our checks I did ask for a to go menu and they didn't have one. I think this is another thing that is a must have.

Sorry but we will not be coming back.

I know we were just friends getting together in the eye's of our waitress. I'm just a blogger out there doing her first restaurant review. But I could of been from a newspaper or something. I really feel a restaurant needs to treat everyone that enters as a special customer and give them their best service. This was very much not what happened tonight.

I hate having to ask for drink refills. To me, that is the most basic thing a waiter or waitress should take notice of...if my drink is always full, I tip well. If not, well, I can be very stingy with my money.

I've always liked Diamonds. But then again I'm not reviewing them :) I'll have to check it out again too see if it's any different.
